Begin Anew has been awarded a grant by the Women’s Department of the Baptist World Alliance (BWA). The BWA is composed of 7 Continental Unions representing 193 national Baptist women’s organizations from 156 countries. The North American Baptist Women’s Union (NABWU) is the North America branch of the BWA.
The offering taken during the Baptist Women’s World Day of Prayer, November 7, 2016 will provide funding for Begin Anew to launch a new outreach program to the vulnerable population of women and children living in Middle TN. Begin Anew will launch a program assisting women living in poverty to “Build Resources to Exit Poverty”. Becky Sumrall, Executive Director of Begin Anew states, “I am so grateful for the grant which provides the resources needed to launch a new curriculum within our current ministry. The new curriculum has been proven to facilitate positive changes in poverty-related challenges, reduce stress and increase hope. Students develop social support and exit the program with goal-setting and planning skills. The first women will be enrolled in January 2016.”
NABWU’s mission statement is “encouraging women to live out kingdom life, especially in the area of helping the vulnerable. We carry this out in two ways: we strive to inform and motivate the women of North America through helping them understand the needs of vulnerable women and children around us, and offering solutions to help with those needs. We also carry out our mission statement by networking, and encouraging women who are working with the vulnerable."
