In my short time as the Men’s Director in Williamson, I have seen how Begin Anew’s program lends for the opportunity to meet EVERY need.
Mario is a student of fine morals: a hard work ethic and attainable future goals. Coming to Begin Anew to be a part of our HiSET program, Mario began with the world fighting against him. Having to take care of his family financially through working upwards of 70 hours a week and pursuing his education, he quickly became overwhelmed with the pressures of this world. He came to me one evening during classes and spoke of his lack of hope in the world.
Isn’t it great that Jesus isn’t of this world? You see, this is exactly where Jesus wants us. Jesus doesn’t want us to stay broken, but He wants us to realize that He is the ONLY One that can make us whole. And as His children, our job is to open our eyes to the way He wants us to meet the needs of those around us. But here’s the catch. We MUST fill their need with Jesus Christ. Jesus gives the only Hope that is eternal and the only Hope that can give us strength to continue on when the pressures of this world may only get harder. I am so grateful to work for a ministry that gives men and women the opportunity to start over with education, skills, and a new way of thinking that will help them be successful. BUT getting to share that we can have hope in Jesus with my friend Mario only deepened and made his success, true success. This ministry allowed for me to be in the right place to speak of my Great Hope!
Ministry comes from the Greek word diakoneo which can be explained as “to serve” or “a person of service”. I’ve also heard it explained as “meeting the need.” Jesus met the need of many through healing, providing, but most importantly saving! He remains the Greatest Minister, and also the greatest example of how to minster.
Here at Begin Anew, we have chosen education as our venue to speak of our Great Hope in Jesus Christ!
